Chill space

From Illuminiki

The chill space takes up the floor above ground level. Floor space is approximately six metres square. Current plans have stairs at either side of the DJ booth, framing the booth and providing two routes up and down.

The poles bearing the weight of the upper-most floor pass through the chill space, defining a 3ish metre square in the centre of the room. This seems like an ideal space to fill with a cargo net/hammock, above a hole in the floor down to the dance floor. This seems like it would be cool.

Problems include:

1) Making sure the net/hammock is strong enough

2) Making sure there remains enough headroom on the dance floor

3) Making absolutely certain that the overall structure can take the weight of the hammock/net, plus munters jumping up and down

4) If the net/hammock is raised above the chill space floor, ensuring no-one can fall through the gap. This might be solved by some kind of plinth arrangement.

5) Making sure the net/hammock is dense and interlocked so that people can't fall through, no matter how drunk or idiotic they are.

6) Making it quiet enough that it's chilled. This could be tricky.

7) Enabling temporary beverage storage that meets user requirements for suitable accessibility.

And a balcony too.
